"Quinn K. Thompson, who bills himself as a Gonzo Starving Artist, has bright, bold oils for $75 and $150. His plan, evidently, is to work fast and sell cheap, and make a living at it. I wish him well." |

November 23, 2001 Nathan Lindberg describes "Renaissance man" and Fanny Alger Board Member Quinn K. Thompson. "Fanny Alger has labeled its music Gospel-Porno-Punk-Lava Rock. When asked what that means, Thompson said, 'I don’t know, we just like saying that.'" |

Musical independence
is key to the rockers who make up the local band Fanny Alger. Is that how they
get to jump so high?

This point is still hotly debated around the world, but the members of Fanny Alger make their case by offering the band's MP3's for free, and by remaining more concerned with art than designer wardrobes. "We do what we want, when we want, and how we want," says Shane Gildnes, the group's lead singer and guitar player. Fanny Alger consists of Gildnes, Drake, bassist Quinn K. Thompson, and drummer Jefferson Kyle.
Talking About Fanny Alger
"They're Skagit County punk rock pioneers ... they're
bridging the gap between new wave and gospel music."
